Management Support and Mentoring
‘an ounce of prevention is better than a ton of cure’
In our current social care climate, the role of registered manager is challenging. It brings great fulfilment but comes with great responsibilities. The turnover of Registered Managers is high, and providers need to do as much as they can to retain their manager. Knowing they have experienced support from someone who has done the job before, from someone who is willing to do some of their practical work for them – can often be the turning point that turns a stressful job into a fulfilling one.
Having completed all roles within social care, I truly do understand the challenges all of your staff face, including your registered manager. Having also had experience in CCG commissioning, attending Multidisciplinary team meetings with CQC and LA as an inspector, I understand what the priorities are to ensure your service achieves compliance and how to support your staff to do it. There are not many other consultants having both of these strings to their bow!
Coming alongside your manager to help with doing the audits, to interpret the audits or to action plan the audits, I can provide the practical help and encouragement needed to support them in their role.
If you are a small provider without a regional team, or a quality control manager, I can act as your regulation 17 visitor. CQC in particular like to know single providers have some expert oversight. Do you really understand the audits your manager is doing? Are they accurate? Does the manager really have the right actions in place to bring the non compliance to compliance? Who checks the checks? That’s what I can do for you.
Management support and mentoring is charged at a daily rate and can be a one off visit or a longer term arrangement to support your overall governance model.
